Appointments requires for community laboratory collections beginning June 1

Effective Monday, June 1, appointments will be required for Community Laboratory Collections at South Bruce Grey Health Centre’s (SBGHC) Kincardine and Walkerton sites. This measure is being implemented to ensure proper physical distancing for patient safety.

In response to COVID-19, Community Lab Collections at SBGHC’s Chesley and Durham sites have been temporarily suspended to free up staffing resources to support active screening stations and the COVID-19assessment centre. “Until this week, our volumes for Community Lab Collections in Kincardine and Walkerton have been very manageable,” explains Angela Stanley, Vice President Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive. “However, this week we have seen a significant spike in volumes, which has created challenges with physical distancing for patients and lengthy wait times. Operating by appointment will provide a better and safer patient experience.”

For the remainder of this week (May 28-29), the number of patients for Community Laboratory Collections in Kincardine and Walkerton will be limited. To book an appointment for next week and beyond, please call Patient Registration between the hours of 8:00 AM-4:00 PM at the site you wish to come to.

Kincardine (519) 396-3331
(Community Laboratory Collections located in the Hawthorne Medical Clinic, across the parking lot from the hospital)

Walkerton (519) 881-1220

At this time, Community Laboratory Collections at SBGHC’s Chesley and Durham sites remain temporarily closed. Planning is underway to resume service in the coming weeks.
