On June 9, 2023, the lawn watering and car washing ban for all users of the Lakeshore Municipal Drinking Water System in Huron-Kinloss was officially lifted.
While undergoing maintenance of the Lakeshore water system, residents were asked to conserve water so that the reservoir could be restored. Maintenance has now been completed and residents may return to normal usage of water, but are reminded that By-law 2010-46 remains in effect from June 1st to September 15th.
The By-law allows lawns to be watered according to the following schedule:
• Even numbered properties may water on even numbered days and odd numbered properties may water on odd numbered days
• Watering hours are restricted to between 6:00 am and 9:00 am and 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm, except for properties with automatic sprinkler systems.
• Properties with automatic sprinkler systems are restricted to watering between 4:00 am and 7:00am.
• This by-law does not apply to newly planted lawns for a period of 30 days from installation.
The area affected spans from the Ashfield-Huron Townline in the south to Saratoga Road in the north, and the Lake Huron shoreline in the west to Lake Range Dr in the east. It also includes users on the Ashfield-Huron Townline to Amberley and users in the Township of AshfieldColborne-Wawanosh on Amberley Beach Rd.
