New Physician joins Kincardine team

The Municipality of Kincardine is pleased to announce that Dr. Pamela Gill will be joining our community to practice family medicine. Her arrival moves the Municipality closer to the goal of every person having access to a family physician.

“I am excited to practice medicine in Kincardine. My family and I love the outdoors and feel that it will be a wonderful place to both work and raise our family,” said Dr. Gill.

A graduate of McMaster University’s medical school, Dr. Gill is currently completing her medical residency in London. She will potentially be able to practice family medicine as soon as July 2024.

She joins alongside Dr. Montpellier, Dr. Reeves, and Dr. Van Veghel, all previously announced recruitments planning to join the community in 2024.

Mayor Kenneth Craig acknowledges the success that Council’s support of a physician recruitment program has had for the Kincardine area. “The efforts of our physician recruiter and the Kincardine Family Physicians are showing with these new hires. We have a positive future for recruitment, retention, and for the doctors and their families joining us. I would personally like to welcome Dr. Gill to our community.”

The Kincardine Family Health Organization currently has ten physicians providing primary care for 14,500 patients. A full compliment would be more than fifteen physicians whose work includes emergency room shifts, provision of hospital inpatient coverage, retirement home care, pregnancy and baby wellness programs, palliative care, memory clinics, mental health management, and care for patients in all stages of life.

As physician recruitment work continues, the support of The Society of United Professionals is unwavering. Their purchase of two homes in 2014 to serve as locum houses are a keystone in recruitment efforts.

“The locum house accommodations are crucial to our physician recruitment efforts,” said Chrystel Murphy, Physician Recruiter and Hawthorne Community Clinic Manger. “We wholeheartedly thank The Society of United Professionals for their commitment to playing an integral role in bringing doctors to work in the Municipality of Kincardine.”

“The Municipality continues to actively recruit physicians,” assured Mayor Craig. “Collaborative efforts, like the relationship we have with the Society of United Professionals, are one of the many ways we’re working to achieve the goal of every person having access to a family physician in the Municipality of Kincardine.”
