Promoting safety for Music in the Fields concert

The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are focusing efforts to promote safety for the upcoming Music in the Fields concert being held in Lucknow August 22-24, 2024.

Lucknow’s Music in the Fields is an annual non-profit music festival based in rural Lucknow. Expect to see an increase in traffic in the Township of Huron-Kinloss and surrounding area.

“South Bruce OPP have dedicated Paid duty officers to the event. The public can expect to see an increase in general patrol officers on foot and conducting RIDE programs in the area. Public safety and engagement are our focus this weekend”- (South Bruce OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Keegan Wilcox).

The South Bruce OPP would like to remind the public of the following safety tips when attending outdoor music festivals:

  • Use the buddy system. Know where your friends are and pick a meeting place in the vent you get separated
  • Keep your cell phones charged
  • Know where the security check points are and where you can go for help, paramedic staging and police command post
  • Keep track of your drinks and understand that alcohol or cannabis affect you.
  • Stay hydrated. Alcohol mixed with hot weather can lead to heat stroke
  • Know who you will be with and where you will stay. Don’t show up without a plan in place
  • Become familiar with the festival grounds so at any given time you know where you are
  • Have an emergency contact on standby in case you want to leave the event and pre-arrange a pickup point.
  • If you are legal age, use alcohol or cannabis in moderation, don’t binge drink or over consume
  • Do not accept drinks or cannabis from people you don’t know

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information on criminal activity to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at www.cstip.ca, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
