Physical distancing has made it difficult to access our favourite places and events in Bruce County, and many of us are missing a sense of community in this new reality. We might be feeling separated from the social and cultural fabric of our communities as the current distancing measures continue.
A Cultural Action Plan, such as the one Bruce County is currently undertaking, considers how places, programs, institutions, and events contribute to social and cultural connections within a community.
With everything else going on in the world, you might be asking … why think about community culture now? However, as the weeks of social distancing wear on, have you found yourself missing certain cultural events or activities? Are there cultural places such as parks, libraries, galleries, or museums you long to visit? Being prevented from experiencing these things also gives us an opportunity to consider what we miss and what we’ll do when a sense of normalcy returns to our daily lives.
While the COVID-19 outbreak has prevented us from holding conventional public town halls about the Cultural Action Plan for Bruce County, we have made available a suite of online resources you can use to share your thoughts about arts, culture, and heritage in Bruce County.
Bruce County residents are a resilient and adaptive people. They have overcome hardships in the region since time immemorial, and the current crisis too shall pass. We hope you’ll join us as we develop a Cultural Action Plan that reflects Bruce County’s valued cultural events, places, and services.
