Strike action continues in Bluewater and across the Province

All Elementary schools in Bluewater will be closed to students tomorrow, February 13th due to continuing strike action.
Also, as part of the OSSTF provincial withdrawal of services, Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) secondary teachers will not be providing comments on the provincial report card.  Secondary teachers have been directed by provincial OSSTF to provide only subject marks, attendance, and learning skills with no accompanying comments. Developmental Learning (DL) report cards will be completed as usual, and will continue to include comments.
In addition, the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (OSSTF) have jointly announced a province wide one-day full withdrawal of services on Friday, February 21, 2020.

According to a notice on the BWDSB website, “A one-day full withdrawal of services by both ETFO and OSSTF members will significantly impact the operation of both our elementary and secondary schools, including our ability to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.”

As a result, ALL ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS in Bluewater District School Board will be closed to students on Friday, February 21, 2020.

Third party child care centres will remain open on this date, and Community Education evening programs will continue to run.  School based co-op placements will be cancelled, however, external co-op placements can continue.  There will be no bus transportation for Bluewater District School Board students.  Before and after/extended day school programs will be cancelled.
