Tiverton News

Well, this has started out to be a crazy summer following an even crazier spring. Since our Covid 19 numbers have been very low, I can only assume most people are adhering to the rules of social distancing and hand hygiene. More and more I’m seeing people wearing masks but social distancing is slacking a bit. A few times I’ve had to tell someone to give respect the 2 meter distance. It’s a shame that Sauble Beach has been forced to close the beaches due to the recklessness of others and we can only hope our local beaches will learn from that lesson.

Tiverton did receive their flower order but because of the Covid 19, the municipality is short staffed to water and help maintain the flower beds. All our volunteers have done a great job despite the conditions.

As you’ve seen, most activities for the year have been cancelled with anticipation to be open next year. The well attended and anticipated Tiverton Craft and Vendor Show has been rescheduled for May 2021 and we are already full, with a waiting list. We will be watching the Bruce County Health Unit very closely in the next few weeks to see if the numbers stay down.

Thank you to Shirley Purdie for her donation of $5,423 to the Huron Shores Hospice. Shirley has made 1,200 masks for the community and all proceeds were to the Hospice.

Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church news

Sadly, Tiverton has lost one of its finest ministers. Reverend David Chang has resigned to join the armed forces and serve as chaplain at the Manitoba base. He and his wife Kim and daughter Rilee were a constant figure in the Tiverton community and everyone wishes him well.
