Kincardine PRIDE parade returns after two-year hiatus

PRIDE month is drawing to a close for 2022 but on Saturday, June 25th, a guesstimated 1,000 people lined Queen Street in Kincardine and in Victoria Park to watch and take part in Kincardine’s PRIDE parade.

                                                                    People lined Queen Street

The parade began in Connaught Park and ended in Victoria Park where there were vendors, games, children’s activities and entertainment at the Pavilion.

                                                        Hundreds gathered in Victoria Park

From Union groups to Churches, political parties to Police and Fire Services, hundreds of participants came out in support of LGBTQ2.  Organizations, such as Bruce Power, along with businesses and individuals in the bright rainbow colours of PRIDE walked in the parade.

Fort Papalia, founder and organizer of the event, said that “The parade, and today, is a role model for our communities, our region and our country and we want to thank everyone for coming out in support.

Many people suffered and bought and paid for over generations to get us where we are today. We started in 2017 and each year, it just keeps getting bigger and better.  We have to thank the Municipality of Kincardine.  Every town staff has asked ‘what can we do to make this happen?’ It has been unbelievable.”
