Bruce County is pleased to announce the appointment of Claire Dodds as the new Director of Planning and Development, effective September 12, 2022.
As a member of the County’s Senior Leadership Team, she will oversee the continued development of the new Official Plan, as well as significant economic planning strategies and programs, including those supporting business recovery.
Under Dodd’s leadership, the Planning and Development team will:
- Work with municipalities to be “development ready”.
- Inspire and attract economic development, building on the County’s strong tourism, agriculture, and energy sectors.
- Build on the successes of the County’s award-winning Explore the Bruce, Spruce the Bruce, and Business to Bruce initiatives.
- Lead and support the delivery of service system management and operationalize the objectives of the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Employment Services Consortium.
Claire Dodds is an experienced leader and a Registered Planning Professional with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners. She has been the Director of Development Services for the Township of South Frontenac since 2018, where she was responsible for the delivery of planning, building, and economic development services.
Dodds previously worked as the Team Lead for the Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing – Eastern Ontario. Before joining the Ministry, she worked with Huron County for over 15 years as both a Planner and Senior Planner. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Rural Planning and Development from the University of Guelph. Claire grew up in Bruce County and has strong ties to the community.
