Each year, the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre holds a week of March Break family and school student fun.
March 2025 school break this year, was a ‘hive’ of activity with almost every event and show sold out.
To wind up the week, on March 14th, it was the ever-popular Baker Magic Show … a hilarious show of magic that appeals to all ages.
The sold-out show, in a filled-to-capacity Bruce Power theatre, Steve Baker, entertained both kids and parents with his interactive show that included magic with humour.
A former teacher, Baker and his wife managed a theatre in the Toronto area of Scarborough before he became entranced by the world of magic and science.
Now, he performs the Baker Magic Show and also the Baker Magic Science show where he razzle-dazzles the audiences of all ages with feats of magic.
With ‘tricks’ that appears to be magic, Baker Magic brings science alive. From gravity to pressure, chemistry to math, he continually delights the young and young-at-heart with his sleight of hand, while proving that science is not only educational but that it has a magic all its own.
Among the many other activities were on-hands building birdhouses in conjunction with the Museum’s exhibit – ‘For the Birds: Upcycled Bird Palaces’ and the ‘Explore our solar system with an out-of-this-world science show’ where an audience member could dress up in a suit similar to what a well-dressed astronaut would wear when looking for rocks on the Moon!
The hands-on and interactive annual March-break activities continue to be a popular week that not only provides entertainment for local students but also has an educational component.
