The Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre (BCM&CC) presents Renewal, an upcoming exhibition featuring 33 fine textile and fibre artworks assembled by Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA).
Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt. Over the past 35 years, SAQA has grown into a dynamic and active community of over 4,000 artists, curators, collectors, and art professionals located around the world.
The exhibition explores the hopes and challenges people experience with renewal through tactile works, intimate scale, and innovative techniques and materials. Renewal immerses visitors in a vibrant experience of colour, texture and style.
The Museum invites the public to an exhibit opening reception on Saturday, January 10th, from 2 to 4 p.m. All are welcome. The Museum will offer a cash bar and light refreshments, and guests can view the collection and connect with SAQA artists. Those interested in attending can RSVP at brucemuseum.ca or call 519-797-2080.
The Museum will also present additional winter programming related to the exhibit, including an artist talk led by the co-chair of the SAQA Canadian Regional Exhibition Committee. The talk takes place Thursday, January 22nd, from 2 to 4 p.m., both in person and virtually, providing insight into the vision and artistry behind the exhibition. Artists Terry Aske, Helena Sheffer and Kit Vincent will join virtually to discuss their creative processes, materials and innovative techniques.
From January to March, the Museum will host three guided tours of the exhibition. SAQA artists will lead participants through the gallery, sharing insider perspectives on materials, techniques and creative inspiration. Members can attend guided tours free of charge. For all others, General Admission applies.
