Bruce Power supplier partners continue to support the restoration of the historic and storied Saugeen Amphitheatre as it once again becomes a community gathering place for decades to come.
A donation of $393,750 from the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON) Community Development Fund will help Saugeen First Nation with Phase 2 of its Amphitheatre project following a $500,000 donation in 2025 from Kinectrics through the Fund, which supported the continued restoration of one of the largest dry-stone projects in North America.
Phase 2 of the project will see the completion of work such as green spaces, parking lot, enhanced stone oven space, gardens, plantings and signage.
It also includes funds for the Amphitheatre trail system, with approximately 750 metres of trail extending from the last garden on the amphitheatre site and leading up to an exit point off Highway 21. The trail system is to include a mix of stone and wood techniques with a handful of staircases and bridges throughout. This will be the first trail system constructed as part of Saugeen’s community trail development plan

Bruce Power created the SON Community Development Fund last year to provide an opportunity for its supplier partners to invest in projects that will contribute to the growth and prosperity of both the Saugeen and Nawash communities, which receive funding separately and direct it to programs and projects of their choice.

The vision for the renewed amphitheater and gardens is to create an outdoor space dedicated to the seven grandfather teachings — the Anishinaabe’s guiding principles that give people the tools to live a good life, passed down generation to generation for thousands of years. The teachings include: Love, truth, wisdom, humility, respect, courage and honesty.
