Coldest Night of the Year coming to Kincardine and Saugeen Shores

.

United Way Bruce Grey is encouraging Saugeen Shores and Kincardine residents to team up, fundraise, and walk in The Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY).  This family-friendly, ‘winterrific’ fundraising walk takes place on the evening of Saturday, February 25, 2023 and supports people experiencing hunger, hurt, and homelessness in Saugeen Shores and Kincardine.

Tens of thousands of Canadians will take to the streets for CNOY with events taking place in 150 cities, towns, and communities across the country. By walking together in the chill of the night, participants will better understand the experience of being on the streets during a cold Canadian winter, while raising funds to aid the work of United Way Bruce Grey in providing much-needed support.

This is United Way Bruce Grey’s first year taking part in the Coldest Night of the Year, with a fundraising goal of $20,000 for both walks. As of today, there are currently 113 walkers and $9,930 raised for Saugeen Shores. There is 41 walkers and $2,860 raised for Kincardine. The money raised for the Kincardine walk will be spilt between United Way Bruce Grey and Kincardine Good Food Box.

United Way Bruce Grey has been serving Saugeen Shores and Kincardine for 25 years, and the funds raised in the Coldest Night of the Year will benefit clients in a time of the year known historically for low levels of giving.

The Saugeen Shores walk begins and ends at Coulter Parkette, located at 583 Green St #599 in Port Elgin. The Kincardine walk begins and ends at Knox Presbyterian Church, located at 345 Durham St in Kincardine. Participants will walk a 2km or 5km route, can warm up with toasty drinks, and will be able to celebrate their efforts together at the finish line. All those who raise over $150 (or $75 for youth) will also don iconic CNOY toques as they face the cold night.
