Confirmed COVID cases at Owen Sound high school

Three confirmed cases  of COVID-19 have been identified in an outbreak at Notre Dame Catholic School in Owen Sound.

An outbreak is declared when there is evidence of transmission from person to person within the school environment.

Two bus routes have now also been identified as being involved with the outbreak. The COVID-19 Case and Contact Management Team of Grey Bruce Public Health Unit will continue to monitor and manage the outbreak and the individuals involved have been contacted.

Public Health has also identified all those, both in and out of the school environment who may have been exposed and have determined their risk level.

Any cohorts that have been identified as contacts to the case have been excluded from school although this is the beginning of ‘Spring break’.

Determining who has had close contact is a decision that can only be made by Public Health. Anyone at heightened risk of COVID-19 transmission due to close contact to a person with COVID-19 will be contacted by Public Health within 24 hours of the investigation.

As a reminder to the public, if you develop symptoms consistent with COVID-19, please proceed to your nearest assessment centre for testing.
