In the most recent release by Public Health Grey Bruce, one new case (presumptive positive) as been reported in the past 24 hours in Grey Bruce bringing the total to eight to date with one recovered case.
Long-term care facilities are reporting zero cases with zero cases also reported in Health Care providers. To date, there have been 239 negative test results and 25 negative results in the past 24 hours.
Dr. Ian Arra, Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive Officer, says that a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shipment donation has been received from Bruce Power to support the need in Long Term Care facilities, EMS, Fire and Police services. “Our thanks to Bruce Power for this donation and for their efforts on several other fronts to support a public health response to COVID19 to protect the health of the communities in Grey and Bruce.”
In addition, there have been several communications initiative launched that include a mass mail-out, guidelines set out for receipt of postal and/or courier deliveries, childcare recommendations, resources for municipalities regarding playgrounds and community messaging videos.
The Needle Exchange Program (NEP) return receptacle has also been re-located to enhance physical and social distancing to reduce risk of transmission
Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) Infectious Disease (ID) Team continue with case and contact management, reporting and responding to COVID-19 related calls and the On-Call Team continues to ensure essential public health activities not related to COVID-19.
