On July 1st and August 21st, The Friends of MacGregor hosted several Indigenous led events from Chastity and John Keeshig, who are from Neyaashiinimiing (Cape Croker).

Through this community funding, the park offered a medicine walk, storytelling of the night sky, and a medicine pouch workshop.

As the park resides within Saugeen Treaty 45 1/2 (1836), the Park and Friends of MacGregor are striving to amplify Indigenous voices and knowledge through park program offerings.

“The Friends of MacGregor Park are grateful for the knowledge shared by Chastity and John, and thank Community Foundation Grey Bruce for supporting these important initiatives through their funding,” says Layna Lubimiv, Chief Park Naturalist, MacGregor Point Provincial Park.

She adds that The Friends looks forward to continuing to build relations and creating opportunities in the park for Indigenous community members in the future.
