Fun was had by all at the Bruce County Museum annual Family Day

It was a busy family fun day at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre on Family Day, February 21st in Southampton on Zoology Day.

With a variety of activities, there was something of interest and fun for all ages, including lectures on wildlife and the chance to adopt a pet presented by the Southampton Pet Hospital.

The adults enjoyed hot beverages served up by Rabbit Dash of Southampton while youngsters had fun creating outdoor environmental bird feeders at the craft table.

For many who were new to the Museum, boarding the replica of the War of 1812 H.M.S. General Hunter was a step back in history as they learned about the shipwreck that was found on Southampton’s beach and had a lesson in how to steer a ship and shoot a cannon.

It was also a chance to try on a World War I uniform and walk through the trenches experiencing the sounds and smells of the Great War.

Tarryn & Brody Sheard and cousin Adrian Campbell came from Owen Sound for              their first visit to the Museum and tried on WWI battle uniforms

Visitors came from throughout Grey and Bruce counties to take in the annual Family Day at the Museum with many vowing to return again.
