To paraphrase Steppenwolf … Get your motor runnin’ and head out onto Queen St.
For one night only, the Kincardine & Community Health Care Foundation is hoping classic car buffs will help to raise $18M to expand the Kincardine hospital and to add an MRI by donatng at the August 2nd Cruise Night. Donations made anytime that day will be matched up to $25,000 by the generosity of the Foundation volunteers who are leading by example.
Media personality Dennis Gage will be the Grand Marshal of the August 2nd Cruise Night hosted by the Municipality of Kincardine along with many community partners and sponsors. With more than 600 cars expected, this special cruise night will see the downtown full of unique vehicles, their owners and the community. Gage hosts “My Classic Car”, a television show about classic automobiles, and is known for his trademark handlebar moustache and the catchphrase with which he ends every episode, “Honour the timeless classics.” Steve Plunket, a well-known car collector is sponsoring Gage’s visit in support of the Foundation fundraising.
“This will be a very special cruise night” says Jack Nancekivell, Foundation member and antique car owner. “It’s an opportunity to see some amazing vehicles, but also support our local hospital, and you get to see your donation doubled by our own Foundation volunteers.”
“Not only will the Foundation run it’s traditional and highly popular 50/50 draw” says Becky Fair, Foundation President, “but we’ll have a one-time opportunity to double all donations made that day. I challenge the community to donate $25,000 so we can turn that into $50,000 in one night!”
Donations can be made at the Foundation table located in front of the HuronTel building during the car show or anytime on August 2nd online at www.kincardinefoundation.ca.
The Foundation has gathered a team of volunteers led by co-chairs Kathryn Freimanis and Graham Mahood and includes current and retired health care workers, businesspeople, and interested community members. These ambassadors are reaching out to families, community groups and businesses to successfully complete its “Building Health Care for Generations” campaign.
Community members who would like more information about supporting the campaign can contact Mark Womack, Capital Campaign Manager, at 519-396-3331 x4335 or kfcapitalcampaign@outlook.com.
