Today, June 5th, was to have been the 28th annual Crime Stoppers Golf Tournament that is the volunteer organization’s major fundraiser. It was however, cancelled due to COVID-19.
Maple Leaf’s former Captain and fan favourite Doug “Killer” Gilmour was to have headed up the list of the many celebrities at the Tournament that would have been held at the Saugeen Golf Club.
Thanks to the involvement of individuals and members of the business community, the tournament has provided a large part of the operating revenue for the local Crime Stoppers program, raising over $525,000 over the 28 years. That being said, the cancellation will result in a significant reduction in supporting funds for Crime Stoppers.
The Organizing Committee for the Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce Golf Tournament however, is pleased to announce a donation of $13,000 to CSGB.
The Committee would like to thank all participants and sponsors who were able to contribute in support of this very important community service. “We would also like to thank the participants and sponsors who were planning on attending and supporting the event but were unable to contribute during these difficult times. We trust that everyone gets through this Pandemic in good spirits and in good health!” says the organizing committee that looks forward to hosting the 28th Annual on Friday, June 4, 2021.
