The beautiful town of Goderich is outside of the Grey Bruce Labour Council catchment area, but Kevin Smith, President of the Grey Bruce Labour Council, “… refuse to be silent on hate, intolerance and prejudice on our doorstep”.
Smith notes that, “This past weekend a despicable segment of society determined that it was their prerogative to display words that are designed to divide people while expressing repugnant and unacceptable language.”
“In 2023 the Grey Bruce Labour Council, with Kincardine Pride, created a joint statement that has been adopted by organizations set on telling the world that hate will not be met with silence,” says Grey Bruce Labour Council VP for Bruce County, Dave Trumble. “In response to the hate on display in Goderich and tragically simmering below the surface in many places, the Grey Bruce Labour Council has signed onto a letter by concerned citizens deploring the language in the attached photograph.”
In addition, Grey Bruce Labour Council VP for Grey County, Chris Stephen, says that, “This joint statement is reissued and provided today and may be adopted by any organization set on pushing this horrendous type of language and sentiment into the trash heap of history.”
