Huron-Bruce Liberal candidate launching campaign in Kincardine

Huron-Bruce Liberal candidate Allan Thompson will launch his bid to be the next MP for HuronBruce at an event for campaign volunteers being held at his Kincardine office on Wednesday, Sept. 4, beginning at 6 p.m. at 343 Durham Market St. N., in Kincardine. The event is open to the public and to news media.

“My simple message to the people of Huron-Bruce is that I am working hard to earn your vote, and I will be sharing that message with our volunteers and campaign team members as we launch into the upcoming election campaign
on Wednesday,” Thompson said.

Born and raised on a family farm in southern Bruce County, Thompson now resides in Goderich and is determined to provide the people of Huron-Bruce with a stronger voice in Ottawa. He is honoured to run once again as the
federal Liberal candidate in the riding he calls home.

Allan made his career as a political reporter for the Toronto Star newspaper and a journalism professor at Carleton University. He’s produced three books and was recognized by Canada’s Governor-General for his work promoting press freedom in Africa.

Allan is proud of such Trudeau government accomplishments as the Canada Child Benefit, lowering taxes for the middle class and negotiation of a new
NAFTA agreement.

He is also focused on being the strongest possible representative for HuronBruce, by getting out into the community to listen to people’s concerns, to put Huron-Bruce first and to get things done for the local community.

He is working hard to earn your vote. His focus is on helping people cope with the cost of living, creating opportunity and rural economic development. The needs of seniors, our farmers, access to healthcare and the challenges posed by mental health issues in rural communities are also major concerns.

Allan’s pledge is to work hard, to restore common decency to politics and to honour our rural traditions of sharing and caring.
