It appears that intimate partner violence is on the rise in Huron County.
On January 13th, Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Township of North Huron and, as a result of the investigation, they learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed a criminal act against their partner.
A 31-year-old individual from North Huron was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with ‘Mischief – Destroys or Damages Property’ and was later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on February 24th, 2025.
Then, on January 14th, Huron County OPP investigated another matter involving intimate partners0. As a result of that investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed several criminal acts against their partner.
As a result, a 33-year-old individual from Waterloo was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:
– Assault – Spousal,
– Criminal Harassment – Repeatedly Communicate,
– Criminal Harassment – Beset and Watch,
– Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent.
The accused was subsequently held for a bail hearing and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on February 24th, 2025.
Again, on January 14th, Huron County OPP investigated another matter involving intimate partners in the Municipality of Huron East. As a result of that investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed several criminal acts against their partner.
A 54-year-old individual from Huron East has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:
– Assault – Spousal,
– Forcible Confinement,
– Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death.
The accused was also later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on February 24th, 2025.
