Kincardine Cruise Nights moves to a one-day event at new location at Airport

Kincardine Cruise Nights are shifting gears in response to this summer’s Downtown Dig. The popular event is moving to Saturday, August 5th, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Kincardine Municipal Airport on Highway 21.

A summer favourite, this event normally calls the heart of Kincardine’s downtown home. Kicking off the summer long weekends on Friday nights, the 2022 season saw record breaking attendance. In fact, each evening lined the street with over 300 vehicles, with a total of over 1,100 collector and special interest vehicles having taken part by the end of the season.

“After missing two years because of the pandemic, the return of Cruise Nights to Kincardine in 2022 was exciting,” says volunteer organizer Don Jones. “With the amazing crowds last summer, we were a little heartbroken to hear the Downtown Dig would interrupt our normal plans, but we also know it’s work that needs to be done.”

With no one involved wanting to go through another season without the sparkling display of classic cruisers, planning for other options began. The shift to having a single-day event allows for organizers to gear-up for a unique experience including:

· Prizes for entrants

· Pop-up vendor booths from local downtown businesses

· 50/50 Draw sponsored by the Kincardine & Community Health Care Foundation

· Grand Prize Shopping Spree draw

Thanks to the sponsorship and support of local businesses, Kincardine Cruise Day is free to participants and spectators alike.

Kincardine Cruise Day relies on passionate volunteers working together with the Municipality of Kincardine’s Tourism team to bring their events together. Anyone wishing to join this group should contact tourism@kincardine.ca.

Organizers are looking forward to the August 5th event, and to returning to their home on the newly refurbished Queen Street in the summer of 2024.
