Congratulations to Nelson Boals who was named Legionnaire of the Year on Saturday night. Nelson has been a legion member for 42 years. He has been on the executive and sat on many committees over the years. For the past 3 years he has overseen the Thursday night bingos and has been doing a great job running that. Thank you, Nelson, for all you do.
Second World War Veteran John D. Hill was also recognized by the branch for having been a legion member for 50 years. Thank you, John for your service to your country and to the legion. Congratulations.
It has been brought to my attention that not everyone understands how Catch the Ace tickets work. You must buy a ticket each week to be in that week’s draw. Tickets are good for only the date on the ticket and are disposed of after the draw is made. The available numbers for the envelopes that are still in play, are on the back of the ticket please check the numbers before putting one on your ticket. Only the person whose name is drawn is eligible to win the prize. The prize money is not split between all the people who had picked that number. If your envelope does not contain the Ace of Spades you win the weekly prize. If it does contain the Ace of Spades you win the weekly prize plus the progressive prize. I hope this clarifies some things about Catch the Ace. Tickets can be bought starting Thursday afternoon’s until about 5 minutes before the draw (those last-minute tickets are available at the legion bar only). The tickets are available at the Legion bar, Sleeper’s bed Gallery, Jean’s Restaurant, Esso on Queen, In Style and Edward Fuels.
Friday, June 28th will be jam night in the hall. If you know someone who plays an instrument encourage them to come out. If you want to come listen to some of the talent we have in our town, drop by. The fun all starts at 7pm.
There will be a luncheon at the legion after the Canada Day Parade and will be by donation. Everyone is welcome to attend.
