Kincardine Legion Corner: Royal Canadian Legion Branch 183

Big congratulations to all the track and field athletes that participated in the Legion Track and Field meet at the Davidson Center. There are so many talented young athletes in this district who came out to compete and will compete again at other meets and we wish them all success.

The Ace of Spades has yet to be found in our Catch the Ace draws. The progressive jackpot is over $8200.00. What would you do if you won that? I’m sure we all have somewhere we could spend it, but if you don’t buy a ticket you won’t have a chance. Tickets may be purchased at the legion bar, Jean’s restaurant, Sleeper’s bed Gallery, In Style, Esso on Queen and Edward Fuels. Special Olympics are going to be benefitting from this round of Catch the Ace.

In July, the legion hopes to welcome not only members from our own community but also visitors to the area. There are many events and things going on during July.

If you like music, we have the Fiddlers in the clubhouse on July 9 and 23, and the jam session in the hall on July 12. Trivia night will be held on July 19th in the hall. If you don’t feel like cooking on Sunday July 14th, Cate will be putting together another wonderful family dinner. Everyone is welcome to come to the legion for any of these events or any time the legion is open.

The Johnny Cash tribute band will be at the legion on August 31 at 8pm, tickets are $20 and available at the legion bar. This show is selling out at all the legions it has already been at, so make sure you get your tickets soon, so you aren’t disappointed.

Not sure what to do on a Thursday night for dinner why not come to the legion and have a burger fresh off the BBQ. You go to the bar to pay and maybe order some of the yummy fries or onion rings to go with it. If you have no other plans for your Thursday night, why not stay and play bingo, who knows you might go home a winner.

If you are out for a walk after dinner stop by the legion and enjoy the sunset from the deck. The patio tables are out and hopefully the warm weather has arrived. Legion hours are Monday to Friday noon to 10pm, Saturday noon to 6pm.
