Lions present local doctors with eyeglass donation

At a Kincardine Lions Social gathering held at Bar Down on Tuesday, January 17th, the Club presented Doctors Gary Gurbin, Damian Gunaratne & Dentist Miranda Deller-Quinn with a case of refurbished eyeglasses for their upcoming trip to Sri Lanka. The trio are among 19 medical and support staff going in February this year. The mission is arranged by VIMM – Volunteers In Medical Missions.

The doctors had asked the Kincardine Lions for assistance to provide people with eyeglasses and the Club stepped up.

It arranged with Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center (CLERC) to obtain 400 sets of reading glasses for distribution.  The used eyeglasses that Lions Clubs collect are sent to CLERC where they are inspected, cleaned, measured, labeled and packaged by Lion volunteers.
