Saugeen Shores is about to host a major curling event in January, 2023 and many have asked about the details.
So… what is ‘The Tankard’ and ‘The Scotties’?
The Tankard is the annual Provincial curling championship that determines the Ontario Men’s representative to the Tim Horton’s Brier where the winner then goes on to the World Men’s Championships.
The Scotties annual Canadian women’s curling championship, sanctioned by Curling Canada, formerly called the Canadian Curling Association, and where the winner goes on to represent Canada at the Women’s World Curling championships
The Tankard and Scotties are staged under the auspices of CurlON and are held together for three out of the four years in the Olympic cycle.
In 2023, both will be held in Saugeen Shores, a major accomplishment for Port Elgin Curling Club and its volunteers.

Full Event $149 | Weekend package (Sat/Sun) $80 | Daily pass $40; except Sunday $50 | Single game ticket $20, except Sunday $30
Please note: Full event passes only will be available only until December 15th. Tickets within a package may be shared
Game Schedule
- The opening ceremonies will be at 6:45 on Monday January 23rd, followed by the first draw at 7:30.
- Draw times through the week will be 9:30, 2:30 and 7:30.
- Saturday schedule is 9:30, 5:30 (Special O’s) and 7:30 (Semi finals).
- women’s final is at 10:30 Sunday and the men’s at 3:00.

Special Events
The SPECIAL OLYMPIANS are an integral part of the Tankard. They play their Provincial Championship on Saturday afternoon January 28th at 5:30. It’s another level of elite curling. Don’t miss it!
Secondly, we are assembling a group of celebrities who are going to participate in a draw to the button contest on Saturday afternoon. We have to issue a caution – no experience is necessary to participate and egos may be hurt. Join the fun!
