The BCM&CC is a place that provides an abundance of interactive stories told through exhibits and programs, a place for social gatherings, and a community and cultural hub.
The galleries are filled with interactive and engaging exhibits that tell the story of Bruce County, along with temporary exhibitions and art shows.
“Open Doorways” is an art installation that explores mental health through the art of storytelling and visual imagery. Opening on May 6th, this exhibit was created by Melissa Comyn, a Mother, Registered Nurse and Artist, and her husband John, who has a passion for photography. Throughout the exhibition, individuals share their mental health journeys through the photography lens and written word. Visitors will learn more about the mental health system and the resources available to help individuals along their journey and also gain an in-sight to how some may feel. “Open Doorways” is proudly presented by Community Foundation Grey Bruce and Saugeen Shores Community fun, this exhibition will be open from May 6 until June 2.
On May 10th, it’s time to join wine expert Lynda Fletcher as she leads an evening of fine wines and food pairings provided by Walker Catering. Springtime is also about getting outside and what better way than with our “Eco Explorers” program, which engages children aged 7 to 12 in learning about the environment through activities in a variety of environmental topics ranging from animals to recycling, waterways to soil, and everything in between. This year, MacGregor Point Provincial Park staff are joining the program on May 4th to explore the first signs of spring outdoors. Then on May 31st, which is also a PA Day, there is a full-day bus trip to Clinton Conversation Area where participants will get up close with the wildlife and ecosystems of this area with the help of Ausauble Bayfield Conservation staff. The “Eco Explorers” program is proudly presented by Ontario Power Generation.
Everyone loves a celebration, so bring your whole family to experience the “Kids Celebrate!” exhibit that is opening May 16th. Children especially will enjoy festivities and will love this interactive exhibit featuring twelve special occasions across the four seasons including seasonal and cultural celebrations.
With hands-on activities, visitors will appreciate the decoration, foods, music, and games that make each unique holiday special. This exhibit celebrates the traditions of diverse cultures and shared connections we have in Canada.
“Kids Celebrate!” is a travelling exhibition developed by the Canadian Museum of History and is proudly presented by Ontario Power Generation and 101.7 The One.
With so many diverse exhibits, programs and events happening during the month of May, it’s time to bring the whole family into the Museum and unlock a sense of curiosity and discover many cultures, art and activities.
