Monarchs, Dinos and more coming to the Bruce County Museum

Wonderful creatures from across the skies and ancient lands are coming to the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre July 16 & 17!

On Tuesday, July 16, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, celebrate the wonders of the Monarch butterfly. Guests will enjoy a special reading of Memengwaa, the Monarch Butterfly by local Saugeen First Nation author, Dorothy Ladd and make their very own Monarch butterfly craft.

The Southport Horticultural Society will be onsite to share tips and tricks to help support Monarchs locally. The Museum will also screen the Canadian documentary “Flight of the Butterflies” (2012), following the incredible story of the Monarch’s annual journey from North America to Mexico. Pre-registration for this event is encouraged but not required. Members FREE. General Admission applies.

On Wednesday, July 17, get a double dose of the natural world with the Museum’s regularly scheduled “Wonderful Wildlife” Show happening at 11:00 AM and at 12:00 PM, a special show featuring the undisputed rockstar of dinosaur expertise, Tim Jefferies!

Tim will share his mind-boggling dinosaur facts and provide a crash course in fossilization magic, with a collection of personally excavated fossils from the Alberta badlands. This event is recommended for children ages 6-12.
