Municipality of Kincardine gearing up for an Event-Filled Summer

• Gathering of the Bands, August 27, 2022

“As we recover from COVID-19 and are permitted to do so, we’re excited to safely bring back many beloved events in the community,” said Mayor Gerry Glover.

For anyone interested in organizing an event in the Municipality, Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Lorie Fioze, says that “The Municipality has always had and will continue to have the utmost respect for safety when it comes to events. The event application process was revised this January as part of a routine update for ever-evolving safety protocols. The process now captures more information from applicants, including a site map, which better informs the staff group reviewing applications. It also ensures that the Municipality is exercising caution as well as protecting the safety of those visiting special events in Kincardine.”

“For clarity purposes, for any downtown event, organizers must ensure that a 6 meter road width be accessible for emergency vehicles,” said Fire Chief Brad Lemaich. “This practice is in effect for any event that is held on municipal streets. This solidifies that the events proposed to date, as well as other returning special events must meet regulations. This should clarify any misinterpretation caused by previous reports.”

“The enhanced special event application process includes a handy Special Event Planning Guide and comprehensive Special Event Application Form, both available at www.kincardine.ca/events,” added Fioze. “Event applications should be submitted at least 45 days ahead of the event date to ensure there is adequate time for safety reviews. We’re happy to welcome safe celebrations to the community, whether they’re returning or new events. Completing a Special Event Application Form is the first step in the process.”
