New Huron-Bruce Liberal candidate to be acclaimed

In a recent media release, the Huron-Bruce Provincial Liberal Party has announced a nomination meeting is to take place on June 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.

The meeting is to be held virtually, with the riding leadership and Ontario Liberal Party leader Steven Del Duca scheduled to be in attendance at the meeting.

After an extensive candidate search throughout the Huron-Bruce riding, the field of potential candidates has been narrowed to a single nomination, Shelley Blackmore, who is to be acclaimed at the virtual meeting on Saturday morning.

Blackmore brings a wealth of experience, both in the education field  and in community service and volunteering.

She is a retired principal who worked for 31 years with the Avon Maitland District School Board in North Huron and North Perth. Blackmore and her husband David live on a farm in Howick Township and they have two sons. She spends her spare time volunteering in her community and she and her husband are foster parents with the Huron Perth Children’s Aid Society (HPC).

As a teacher and a principal, Blackmore found that the Huron Perth Centre (HPC) was an excellent support for both schools and families and, as a Board member, wants to help ensure that HPC continues to be a strong lead agency for mental health in Huron and Perth Counties

“I am very excited to be taking part in the nomination process,” Blackmore said. “With all that’s been going on in Ontario, the time is right to rebuild a sense of trust in Huron and Bruce counties. I’m looking forward to the road ahead, connecting with everyone in the region, and representing our communities in Queen’s Park.”
