The Municipality of Kincardine’s Manager of Legislative Services/Clerk certified nine candidates for the vacant office of Councillor Ward 1 on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024. Candidates for the position include:

The next step in filling the council vacancy is the special Council appointment meeting scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, in the council chambers at the Municipal Administration Centre, 1475 Concession 5 in Kincardine.
The public is invited to watch the meeting, either in the council chambers or on YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@MunicipalityofKincardine. The agenda for this meeting, and all Council meetings, are posted in the days ahead of the meeting on the online municipal calendar at https://events.kincardine.ca/council.
At this meeting, the candidates will each have an opportunity to address Council who will then vote on the appointment of one of them to the role of Councillor Ward 1. The vote is taken in open session with the chosen candidate swearing their Oath of Office and formal appointment to the position by By-law following.
The new Councillor’s first official Council meeting will be on November 13th, 2024. Their term of office will run concurrently with the rest of Council’s, ending when the new Council is sworn in after the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election on November 15th, 2026.
