“The NWMO’s donation to the Women’s House will provide support for some of our community’s most vulnerable women and families,” said Mary Smith, Property Manager, WHSBG.

Women’s House is a charitable organization that provides protective services for women and children in need throughout the region. These services include providing safe, temporary shelter for women and children, 24-hour support lines, community counselling, and support groups.

Recently, Women’s House began construction of a new backyard space at its Kincardine shelter. The outdoor space includes garden planters, a playground and a fenced-in dog-run.

“The NWMO continues to support the important work being done in the communities we are working with,” said Jonathan Zettel, NWMO Regional Communication Manager for South Bruce.

The NWMO has a Local Sponsorship and Donations program that supports municipal and Indigenous communities involved in the site selection process. It’s part of our commitment to leaving communities better off for working with us and being good corporate citizens.
