Owen Sound Legion Silver C’s learn about nuclear energy and medical isotopes

James Scongack, Chief Development Officer & Executive Vice President, Operational Services at Bruce Power, recently met with the Silver C’s (Caring Canadians) of Owen Sound’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch 6 District C.

Scongack explained to the group about Bruce Power nuclear energy and its role in producing medical isotopes.

As Chief Development Officer, he leads the company’s medical isotope business, net zero initiatives, power trading, business development and indigenous/community economic partnerships.  Scongack is also Chair of the Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council and Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) and is a Board Member on the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. He also serves on the Board of LifeLabs, Canada’s largest provider of medical laboratory services.

Scongack has been awarded the Provincial Diamond Leadership Award by Easter Seals for his work supporting the organization and kids with physical disabilities and is a recipient of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40.

Following his discussion with the group, he presented each member with a pair of blue Isotope socks in support of the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) and Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
