With the January 25th Municipality of Kincardine Council tender approval for the Downtown Dig project, preparations are underway for another Open House.
Set for today, March 8th, the Kincardine Davidson Centre will host the public event from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the afternoon and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event is a casual come-and-go where the community can learn more about the $7.4 million investment project planned for Kincardine’s historic downtown.
Community and Economic Development Coordinator Cherie Leslie is looking forward to the second event of this kind for the project. “We hosted a well-attended Open House in September of 2022 when this project was still in the planning stages. Now that we know things are moving forward, we’re inviting everyone to come and talk with us again.”
The event will feature greater details about the infrastructure improvement project with representatives from B.M. Ross and Associates Ltd., Lavis Contracting Co. Limited., plural, Lakeside Downtown Kincardine BIA, Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce, and municipal staff on hand to discuss.
“There will be something for everyone at this Open House,” continues Leslie. “Whether you’re a property owner, business operator, or resident, come out and chat with us about this big project. Construction is slated to begin at the end of March, weather permitting, but prior to breaking ground “Blinky’s Bash” will kick things off with a party. The Queen Street event, co-hosted by Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce, Lakeside Downtown Kincardine BIA, and the Municipality, features free activities for all ages on Saturday, March 18th, from 1 to 4 p.m.
“We’re making sure everyone knows that even though things may look different downtown in the summer of 2023, we’re still here,” says Mayor Kenneth Craig. “Businesses are open, day-to-day life continues, and events are still happening.”
