South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC) will gradually begin to reintroduce visiting for admitted acute care patients began Monday, June 29.
Admitted patients are now able to identify one Partner in Care that can visit once per day for the duration of their hospital stay. In an effort to minimize use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and exposure to patients, leaving the hospital and returning the same day is not permitted.
Developed in partnership with SBGHC’s Patient and Family Advisory Council, guidelines for visiting to ensure the safety of all patients, visitors and staff are available on SBGHC’s website.
On June 15, the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health issued a communication to Ontario hospitals recognizing the importance of family and care giver presence for patient well-being, and recommending that hospitals begin planning for the resumption of visiting.
“We recognize how difficult it has been for patients and families with visiting restrictions in place,” says Angela Stanley, Vice President Clinical Services / Chief Nursing Executive. “We look forward to welcoming Partners in Care back into the hospital to support their loved ones through their health care journey.”
At this time, visitor restrictions remain in place for the Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging and Lab, unless the patient is a child or requires a support person.
