To the Editor:
I believe the “pause” on the Trump Tariffs War is just causing more anger and appropriate action by Canadians.
If we are successful, for example, in finding alternate Customers for special needed minerals, then once they are committed to customers of like values, they are gone.
We don’t need customers who rip up current contracts. We don’t need customers
who suggest we become a 51st State.
I see nothing wrong in joining the EU if we have equal needs.
The ‘ugly American’ view, fed to them by Trump, is that they have no needs from Canada. It is time to pull away in my view.
My career was negotiating internationally for Shell Petrochemicals and Trump still thinks it is a win – lose transaction. This is very short term and the USA is about to realize just how wrong they have been under Trump and ‘MAGA’.
