News has been slow but with the warmer weather things are getting into full swing … by Karen Ballok.

 

Tiverton Craft and Vendor Show

Our annual Craft and Vendor Show is back again at the Tiverton Sports Centre salted for Saturday June 3rd. Show hours are 10-3 and you’ll be seeing a lot of local crafters with their products. We still have a few tables available, but they may go fast as in the past we have had a waiting list. This year there will again be a BBQ and Three Sheets Craft Brewery from Port Elgin will be there with their beer. Come out to shop and have lunch at the same time. Spread the word! This event is hosted by the Tiverton Agricultural Society.

Tiverton and District Lions The Tiverton and District Lions will be holding the Annual Community Yard Sale on Friday May 12th from 6 pm to 9 pm and Saturday May 13th from 8 am to 1230 pm at the Tiverton Annex. There will be a Barbeque on Friday May 12th from 5 pm to 6 pm.

Donations will be accepted on Wednesday May 10th from 10am to 3 pm, Thursday May 11th from 4pm to 8 pm and Friday 9 to 1. . No clothing or electronics please.

The Tiverton Agricultural Society News

There is lots going on with the agricultural society. Calendar of events include May 11th line dancing at the Whitney Crawford Centre. $10.00 will get you in for lessons and some great fun. You’ll be amazed at how many line dancers are in this area.

May 12th will be bringing back our successful Trivia Night at the Whitney Crawford Centre. Time to come out and show everyone that you do know it all. Doors open at 6:30 and Trivia starts at 7. $5.00 per player, age of majority event. Any questions you can email tivertonagsociety@gmail.com or call Janel 519 386-3395

May 13th is the fundraising dinner with a live and silent auction for Tom Evans. His trip to the Latvia Ploughing Match in October and shipping the equipment is expensive. We want to support our Tiverton native. It will be held at the Bruce Township Community Centre in Underwood. Doors open at 5:30, dinner served at 6:00. Admission by donation at the door. Tiverton Fall Fair needs a new sign. Yes, its time to retire our old clown sign. We are looking for a new design. All you artist out there can submit your designs and have a chance to win $100.00. This is open to all Tiverton and district residents of all ages. Submit your design by Aug 30th to karenballok@gmail.com

Speaking of Fall Fair!!! This year’s fall fair will be held Thanksgiving weekend October 6-8 and our theme is “Home for the Harvest”. Watch for the fair books in the near future.

Wellness Wednesday

Little Blue House Coffee Co. celebrates Wellness Wednesday where Healthcare workers and Frist Responders can come in and enjoy a free coffee. Just their way of showing their appreciation for nurses, healthcare workers and first responders. Where would we be without then? This event is proudly sponsored by Wellness nurse Tara Tourloukis

Mike & Kim Catto are thrilled to announce the engagement of their daughter Sarah Catto to Eric Duenk son of Tracy Harrison and Martin&Joanne Duenk. We are so happy for the two of you and can’t wait for your big day.

Tiverton lost an iconic figure when Ken Jackson passed away earlier this month. Ken Jackson was a contributor to so many local events, far too many to mention. Condolences to this family.
