Ontario Power Generation (OPG) was out in the community this week to lend a financial helping hand to a variety of organizations that it has supported over several years.
In Pioneer Park at Southampton Harbour on Tuesday June 4th, two groups were recognized and received donations to help with upcoming events.
The seniors’ Chantry Centre of Southampton received $1,000 for a wide variety of programming that the Centre provides for seniors in the community to help them remain active, both physically and mentally.
The other recipient organization was the Marine Heritage Festival Committee, that also received $1,000 for its annual upcoming festival that takes place in the community of Southampton on the shore of Lake Huron from July 26th through the 28th. This year is the 9th Festival that annually attracts thousands of visitors.
Following the Pioneer Park presentations, it was off to the local G. C. Huston Public School to present a third donation of $500 for the annual Summer Music program for which OPG has been a consistent supporter. The program enables young and old to learn from master musicians and participate in concerts.
The donations were presented by OPG’s Lynda Cain, Senior Communications, who was also surprised with a presentation of a print from Ducks Unlimited for OPG’s support for the organization.
