Prior to Remembrance Day, Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre welcomes back distinguished historian and author Tim Cook for a virtual discussion, held exclusively within the Bruce Power Theatre, on the significance of the Sicily Campaign during the Second World War.
With 2023 marking 80 years since the invasion, this timely and unique talk will shed light on the overlooked experiences of the close to 100,000 Canadians who served in the Italian Campaign. Discover the bravery and sacrifice of these courageous individuals as they entered a dangerous and complex battle against an enemy-held position, with an amphibious landing just a year after the fated Dieppe assault in 1942.
An in-person talk by local historian Matt Johnson (Marathon of History) will follow, providing deeper insights into the Sicily Campaign’s impact on the Canadian military efforts during the Second World War.
November 2nd – 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Museum Members: Free
Non-members: $8.00
