The Bruce County Beef Farmers are calling on local families, home cooks, and beef lovers to help make the beef chapter in the upcoming ‘Flavours from the Furrow’ – 2026 Bruce County International Plowing Match Official Cookbook the biggest – and “beef-iest” – section of the book.
“Since Bruce County produces 22% of Ontario’s beef, we like to consider Bruce County, Beef Country,” said Calvin Anstett, President of the Bruce County Beef Farmers. “I hope the family recipes submitted reflect that and it’s the biggest chapter in the book.”
‘Flavours from the Furrow’ cookbook will be a community-driven collection of treasured recipes, serving as both a fundraiser for the Bruce County International Plowing Match & Rural Expo in 2026 and an historical record of the meals that have brought families together for generations.
“The Flavours from the Furrow cookbook will not only be filled with delicious recipes, but it will also be a cherished collector’s item and a perfect gift,” said Lauren Kieswetter, Cookbook Committee Chair. “By submitting a recipe, you have the chance to be part of Bruce County’s culinary history—your name and recipe will be featured in a book that will be treasured for years to come.”
Submit Your Recipes! The cookbook committee invites past and present residents to submit up to three of their favourite recipes to be considered for this cherished souvenir showcasing Bruce County’s rich culinary traditions. Whether it’s your grandmother’s secret pie recipe, your go-to family dinner, a favourite recipe using Bruce County beef, or a creative twist on a classic dish, this is your chance to celebrate the unique flavours of home.
Submit your recipes online at https://forms.gle/MoVd9GAR22DqjLRv7 or by mail to: IPM Cookbook, PO Box 422, Mildmay, ON N0G 2J0.
