Bruce County Museum celebrating Family Day

Family Day was originally created to give people time to spend with their families, and is a day to reflect on the deep bonds and connections that we share with one another. A large part of any family is the history that exists behind it, and that is why Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre wants to celebrate your family’s heritage, along with Bruce County’s.

Join us in a full day of exploration that is fit for the whole Family! With everything from woodworking and hand spinning demonstrations to a fun-filled outdoor obstacle course, there is a little something for everyone.

Guests will not want to miss the chance to travel back in time, to witness a live black powder canon firing and authentic working blacksmith. Kids and adults alike will take pleasure in watching the working model railway, and perhaps be able to point out the model of their very own home town.

Live music will accompany the day’s entertainment, and of course there is still an entire array of interactive exhibits to explore throughout the museum. This year, join Mary Foley of the Celtic Academy Canada for an open workshop that features traditional Irish Style Celtic Ceili dances from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. This will be a true hit for those looking to get up and participate, and a great way to make some lively Family memories!

After you’ve worked up an appetite, enjoy a bite and relax with a scenic view of Fairy Lake, as Southampton’s very own Little Black Dog Creative Catering will be serving up some hot & delicious food, as well as refreshing drinks. The lunch counter is cash only, and you’re not going to want to miss out!

As a special Family Day Bonus, we’ll be offering 10% off Memberships and renewals. Museum membership means a full year of free visits, plus discounts on programs and in the gift shop. Members also receive free admission to Grey Roots Museum & Archives, Waterloo Region Museum, Huron County Museum and Simcoe County Museum.

Family Heritage Day begins at 10:00 a.m. on February 18 and runs until 5 p.m. General Admission applies, members are free. This fun filled day is proudly presented by Ontario Power Generation and 92.3 The Dock. For more information, visit www.brucemusuem.ca
