Bruce Power donates proceeds from Challenger Cup soccer to local charities

Bruce Power, along with the sponsors of September’s Challenger Cup soccer event in Kincardine, has donated the proceeds to local charities ahead of the holiday season.

Twenty-two soccer teams, comprised of Bruce Power employees and representatives from supplier companies, took to the pitch Sept. 28 in friendly competition, raising more than $73,000.

Proceeds from the event have been donated to United Way of Bruce Grey, Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey, and the Saugeen First Nation Food Bank and Nawash Unceded First Nation Food Bank.

“We’re thrilled that a day of fun and exciting soccer competition has also been able to benefit organizations in our community that are focused on helping those in need,” said David Furr, Bruce Power’s Vice-President, Supply Chain. “Thank you to all of the Bruce Power Challenger Cup organizers, sponsors and participants for making this event a win-win for everyone involved.”
