The Board of Trustees of the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board are pleased to announce the appointment of Gary O’Donnell as Director of Education.  A teacher, principal and superintendent for over 27 years in Catholic education, he succeeds Jamie McKinnon who has accepted the role of Principal at St. Michael’s College School.

Mr. O’Donnell brings with him a strong background as a Catholic educator.  He is currently a Superintendent of Education with the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board responsible for Special Education, Mental Health, Secondary Programing, Student Success, Global Competencies, Equity and Inclusive education, as well as other portfolios.

He is a true innovator who embraces learning technologies.  He is a champion of inclusion and works to create conditions to build capacity and confidence in students and staff.  Prior to becoming Superintendent, Gary was a vice principal and principal and system principal for Special Education with the London District Catholic School Board.  A graduate of the University of Windsor, he earned his Masters of Education in Educational Administration from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.  As a lifelong learner, Gary is an avid reader, enjoys golf, soccer and marathon running.

Beverley Eckensweiler, Chair of the Board, stated, “We are confident that in the appointment of Gary O’Donnell, we have found a system leader who can continue the great strides our Board has made with respect to student achievement and provide inspired Catholic leadership into the future.”

Mr. O’Donnell will start his employment with the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board effective July 28, 2019 subject to confirmation from the Minister of Education.
