Chantry Island has now added one more unique attraction, Butterfly Pod S-10 and has become a ‘Friend of Butterfly Gardens of Saugeen Shores’ (BGOSS).

A protected bird sanctuary under the Federal Government, the Island is now also becoming a butterfly garden stop-over for migratory Monarch butterflies.

Chantry Island welcomes visitors through its guided tours of the historical lighthouse where you can climb to the top of the lighthouse and get a bird’s eye view of the Island and then take a step back in time in the restored keeper’s cottage decorated with authentic period furnishings of 1800’s.

Chantry Island Tours are operated by the Southampton Marine Heritage Society made up of tireless volunteers and is the only group allowed to take visitors to the Island.

Tours run throughout the summer until Labour Day (weather dependent) and, for booking information, call Chantry Island Tours at 519-797-5862 or visit: www.chantryisland.com
