MPP Thompson set to celebrate Rural Ontario Week at the International Plowing Match & Rural Expo

Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce and Ontario’s Minister of Rural Affairs, is pleased to celebrate the inaugural Rural Ontario Week at the upcoming International Plowing Match & Rural Expo located in Bruce County, just west of Walkerton from September 22nd – 26th.

Rural Ontario Week is a celebration of what makes rural Ontario strong: families who put down roots, businesses that invest for the long term that strengthen our local economies, and communities that continue to find new ways to grow and create opportunity. Rural families and businesses are creating jobs, investing in their communities and building opportunities for the next generation, to help ensure that rural Ontario remains vibrant, resilient and ready to grow.

“People are making a difference every day in our local rural communities by creating opportunities and helping build a stronger rural Ontario,” said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce. “I really hope communities and municipalities across the province recognize this amazing opportunity to celebrate what makes their community so special in Rural Ontario.”

While at the International Plowing Match & Rural Expo, MPP Thompson will be participating in the following activities:

  • Tuesday, September 22 – Kick off to the International Plowing Match & Rural Expo – Opening Ceremonies.
  • Wednesday, September 23 – Recognizing International Year of the Woman Farmer recipients, where MPP Thompson will host the event at the Grain Farmers of Ontario VIP Tent to recognize and thank ten women farmers from Huron and Bruce counties for all they do in the spirit of farming in Huron-Bruce, and the support they provide to our rural communities.
