Charges for stunt driving continue

On July 21, 2021 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to several traffic complaints regarding a motor vehicle that was passing aggressively and speeding on Highway 6, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Grey Bruce OPP located and stopped the vehicle after it was found to be travelling at over 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 80 km/h speed limit zone.

Grey Bruce OPP have arrested and charged a 19-year-old of Scarborough male with the following offences:

  • Stunt Driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, and
  • Dangerous Operation.

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 9, 2021. The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 14 days, and their motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

On July 17, 2021 at 2:31 a.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along Durham Street east in Walkerton, noticed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was displayed on radar at 114 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer noted that the driver had been drinking alcohol. The driver was arrested and taken to the South Bruce OPP detachment for testing with a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician.

A 17-year-old resident of Arran-Elderslie Township was charged with Impaired driving, Race a Motor Vehicle, Novice Driver – Unaccompanied and Novice Drive – Drive at Unlawful Hour. The accused will be appearing in court as required to answer to the charges.
