Like the rest of the world, Kidney Clothes is dealing with an unprecedented situation related to Covid-19 and its impact on our community. In order to protect the health and safety of its valued donors, staff, partners and communities as a result of the Covid-19 virus and in accordance with government mandates, Kidney Clothes has suspended its textile collection operations.
As each of us tries to understand how this will affect our daily lives, many people are finding themselves at home while they isolate and social distance to protect themselves and help prevent the spread of Covid-19. Many people are looking for ways to stay busy and also asking what they can do to support their community during this difficult time. An easy way to accomplish this is to clean out your closets and gather the things you don’t need or use for donation. However, during this time, Kidney Clothes is not be able to do pickups or accept donations at our drop boxes or attended donation stations.
As a result, many good-intentioned people have taken to leaving their donations at donation stations and drop boxes. Due to the government order that all non-essential services shut down, drop boxes cannot be serviced on their regular schedule, meaning that donations that are dumped outside bins are not only unsightly, but these donations are ruined from exposure to the elements and could create a potential safety hazard.
Kidney Clothes encourages you to go ahead with your spring cleaning and closet clear-outs and set donations aside until our operations return to normal. Your donations and the support provided for people in our community living with kidney disease will be needed more than ever.
