During the long weekend, I got to appreciate our police force in a different way.
During the Sunday river raft race, our officers were front and center at various launching spots to ensure the kids were taking life jackets on board and just being a friendly presence.
At the end of the day when I went to pick up my daughter and her raft, the police had spot checks set up on the road from just beyond where the kids disembarked. The officer I met was so appreciative of the parents who ensured their kids left safely.
It was a great day for all the rafters and one reason was our police showed their presence and still allowed everyone to have fun. Hats off to our Force.
