Lock it or lose it a lesson learned in Lucknow

Kincardine – On March 23, 2019 the South Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement on Bruce Road 20 in the Municipality of Kincardine when a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. 

The officer confirmed his visual observations with a RADAR device and was able to obtain a speed measurement of the racing vehicle at a speed in excess of 50km/h over the posted 80 km/h zone. 

The driver, a 38-year-old male of Brockton, has been charged with “Drive a Motor Vehicle -Perform a Stunt (Speeding in Excess of 50 km/h)” resulting in a seven day driver’s license suspension and a seven day vehicle impoundment.

Lucknow – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) South Bruce Detachment is reminding the public to protect their property and valuables against would be thieves, after vehicles entries and theft from vehicles have recently been reported in the areas of Wheeler Street, Place Street, Havelock Street, Ludgard Street and Ross Street, Hamilton Street, Napier Street in Lucknow, Ontario.

On March 19, 2019 members of the South Bruce OPP responded to several reports of thefts from motor vehicles in Lucknow.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that between March 18, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. and March 19, 2019 at 6:00 a.m. the suspect(s) gained access into several unlocked motor vehicles in the area. Once inside, the suspect(s) removed valuables, sunglasses, GPS, clothing, insurance slips, guess prescription glasses, black leather gloves, tools, an airbed and several other items.

Some tips to prevent you from becoming a victim:

  • Always secure your vehicle doors when parking your vehicle, even if you are only going to be a few minutes
  • Remove valuables from you vehicle. If you can’t, then keep them from plain view
  • Park in well lighted areas with high traffic.
  • Clean out your garage and park your vehicle in it – locking your vehicle and the garage door
